Rachel Silverman
Rachel Silverman is currently finishing her studies at The Jewish Theological Seminary, and will be ordained in May. She is currently the student Rabbi at Temple Adath Sharon in Sharon, MA. She is an experienced and creative educator who has been involved with numerous social service agencies and religious schools (she also has a Master's Degree in Jewish Education). More recently, she has been teaching at Gann Academy in Waltham.
Rachel has demonstrated her leadership abilities and dedication to social issues through her activities at Jewish Theological Seminary (where she developed inter-rabbinical school study groups and community activities), and involvement with a rape crisis center. For many years Rachel has served as a leader at Camp Ramah, developing programs, supervising staff and serving as a parent/camp liaison.
One of the most important things that Rachel brings to us is her expertise with teens. It is clear to all of us (especially the teens!), that she truly understands what makes them tick. She has an infectious energy and personality that teens can easily relate to (as well as a keen intelligence that parents appreciate). She has introduced many new ideas for the Midrasha group, and they are very exciting. She continues to develop activities that have drawn our young people back to involvement.
